Our Structure

The charity operates through a two-tier structure comprising a Board of Trustees and a Management Board made up of divisional coordinators and functional officers. Our divisions are located in Ashington, Billingshurst, Barnham (Five Villages), Petworth, Pulborough, Steyning, Storrington and Wisborough Green. While each division operates independently, all work within the charity’s overall framework and receive support from the centre.

The Board of Trustees provides overall governance and strategic oversight, ensuring the charity operates with integrity, remains financially sustainable, and continues to meet the needs of the communities it serves.

The Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals living within West Sussex to join our Board of Trustees. This is an opportunity to use your professional experience and skills to help shape the future of a well-established charity that plays a vital role in supporting local communities.

As a Trustee, you will share collective responsibility for the governance, strategic direction and long-term sustainability of the organisation. Working alongside fellow Trustees and members of the Management Board, you will help ensure that the charity remains effective, financially resilient, and responsive to the changing needs of its service users and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the charity’s strategic objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow Trustees to guide the future direction of the organisation.
  • Support the development and enhancement of the services provided.
  • Assist in the organisation and administration of Trustee and Management Board activities.
  • Oversee and maintain organisational policies and procedures, ensuring they remain current and effective.
  • Monitor relevant statutory, regulatory and governance requirements and support compliance.
  • Act as an ambassador for the charity and maintain positive relationships with external organisations and stakeholders.
  • Support volunteer recruitment, retention and organisational development initiatives.
  • Ensure the charity’s resources are managed responsibly and in line with its charitable objectives.

Experience, Skills and Attributes

We welcome applications from individuals who have held management or leadership positions within the commercial, public or voluntary sectors and who can bring a broad understanding of organisational operations.
